Smiles for Sierra Leone – Part II
In the name of the Almighty, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Alhamdulillah, since 2018 we have been blessed to support the precious orphans and families of Waterloo, Sierra Leone. Through your continued generosity, this initiative has expanded to neighbouring villages, bringing hope and lasting change to many lives.
During our visit in December 2024, your incredible support helped us raise £45,000, which provided:
- 8 families with shelter homes
- 2 tuk-tuks for sustainable livelihoods
- 2 fishing boats for community income
- 4 cataract and 7 hernia operations
- 100 food hampers to those with disabilities
- 2 days of hot cooked meals for over 1,000 people
- Over 2,000 cash distributions to those in need
- 62 animal sacrifices (sadaqah)
- 63 circumcision operations (khatna)
- 10 sewing machines for women’s empowerment
- Support towards communal toilets for local masjids
Each achievement represents a life touched and a community uplifted…all made possible by your compassion.
In Shaa Allah, the team will once again be travelling to Sierra Leone on 5th December 2025 to HAND-DELIVER 100% DONATIONS directly to those in need. This year, our focus will continue on education, clean water, food security, and sustainable empowerment projects to help families achieve independence and dignity.

We provide full updates of all activities and expenditure throughout the journey, ensuring that every penny is accounted for, and every donor can see the real impact of their generosity.
All donations qualify for Lillah, Sadaqah, and Zakat.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,” — and he held his two fingers together.
(Sahih al-Bukhari)
And he ﷺ also said:
“The most beloved of people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to others.”
(Al-Muʿjam al-Awsat, 6192)

- £35 can provide a family with a food hamper designed to last approximately one month, ensuring they have nutritious meals and essential staples.
- £100 can help restore sight and transform lives by funding a safe and successful cataract surgery for someone in need.
- £200 can provide life-changing relief by funding a safe hernia surgery, helping someone regain comfort and health.
- £300 can give the gift of independence by providing a sewing machine, empowering individuals to build skills, earn income, and support their families.
- £1000 can support sustainable livelihoods by providing a kiosk and stall (fully stocked), enabling individuals to start their own small business and gain financial independence.
- £2000 can provide safe, secure shelter that protects four families from the elements, giving them stability, comfort, and a place to call home.
- £2450 can provide a brand new tuk-tuk (rickshaw) to empower individuals with a means of income, helping them achieve financial independence and support their families.
